Try this out: Gang Garrison 2

Posted in PC, Team Fortress 2 on September 24th, 2008 by Jade Robbins

Team Fortress 2 is a classic, one could say that the only way it could be better is to make it. . . . 2D? Well the guys over at Faucet (heh, get it?) have created an amazing 2D, multiplayer replica of our favorite 3D team-based FPS.

Check out version 1.0 (there are are often people playing on that) but not all of the features are there (no disguise for spy, or sentry for the engineer), but if you have enough interested friends start up a server in 2.9 beta. You can get more information or download it here.

What We’re Playing – September 22nd, 2008

  • Jade “Proximity” Robbins – “I have been playing WAY too much Madden 09 as well as trying out Rainbox Six: Vegas 2 from Gamefly. Still hopping on TF2 off and on, but recently *ahem* the lack of friends playing has been a barrier. Gonna download Geometry Wars 2 this weekendand see how I fare.”
  • Travis “Bullet-Tooth Tony” Henningsen – “Last time I played Oblivion it was on a 7800 gtx a few years back. Thought I would see what it could do these days on a new Quad Core system with an 8800 GTX oc2, not to mention its a pretty fun and expansive game. So between working my ass off and having a 2 day nerd-gasm in that game, I’ve been trying to keep my sniping skills up. Waiting for some sweet fall releases . BTW IGN totally changed there format and its fucking with my head.”
  • Mark “Bruce LeeRoy” Sanborn – “Well I was bored and I attempted to beat portal again. The game just isn’t the same the second round. They need a sequel! Working on the house has had me busy for the last few weekends but I have been trying to play TF2 more. I still can’t decide what my best TF2 class is. Sometimes I can clean house as a spy and rack up some redicoulus points. Other times I’m rockin with the demo. Lately I have been sucking at both. Probably due to the lack of play time lately.

Spore: Feat or Flop?

Posted in Games, PC on September 15th, 2008 by Jade Robbins

Spore seemed really interesting to me about six months ago. As news spilled out about it I got really excited, it seemed like a really revolutionary concept and my mind was filled with little images of creating a civilization modeled after random internet creations and my own flavor of omnipotence.

As the game came to fruit, though, I lost quite a bit of interest. Now that it’s released, I’ve heard many mixed reviews from both professional reviewers and casual gamers. So I want the opinion of the people who matter: What do YOU think of Spore?

Predictions v1 The Sniper

Posted in Series Articles, Team Fortress 2 on September 1st, 2008 by Bullet-Tooth Tony

I thought it might be fun to start a series of posts that are predictions for the up and coming class releases. This will hopefully up out discussion instead of having 1 or 2 arbitrary replies. So to start them off I think I will start with the Sniper.

This one is pretty tough because he already is pretty powerful and has everything he needs. Looking at the past unlocks i.e. the Heavy you can see that the unlocks aren’t even a great improvement as much as an alternative. I can really only predict changes in the current arsenal (who really could have predicted the sandvich?)

I think that they smg is a pretty good gun especially if your trying to chase a spy and he goes invisible. Or just take out a scout that is running by. I think that this could be feasibly adjusted so that you have a extended clip. Instead of 25 rounds you would have 35 but of course the damage would have to be decreased. I think this would benefit trying to track a spy or take out a scout. Another route would be the Natasha scenario, less damage and slows down.

The sniper rifle is pretty good where its at. Its not the AWP you can’t kill with one shot to the leg, and thats how it should be. The only exception is if you charge up and make yourself vulnerable. I think a descent upgrade that wouldn’t be too aggressive would be a wide angle scope. Instead of looking through that circle it would be more like a 16:10 ratio. They could also mess with the charge shot but I’m not sure how that would go down.

I’m going out on a limb and saying that being able to throw a boomerang for a melee would be pretty cool. Limit 1.
